Vietnam Attracts over US$12.5 Bln in FDI in Jan-Aug
The General Statistics Office (GSO) said foreign direct investment approximated US$12.63 billion in the first eight months of 2013, an increase of 19.5 percent over the same period of 2012. FDI disbursement was estimated at US$7.56 billion, up 3.8 percent year on year.
Processing and manufacturing industries drew most FDI in the past eight months with US$10.82 billion, accounting for 85.7 percent of total registered capital. Thai Nguyen province took the lead in attracting FDI with US$2.14 billion, or 28.9 percent of total newly registered capital. Singapore continued to be the largest investor with US$2.54 billion in the period, or 34.3 percent of total newly registered capital.
