BMW Vietnam Classic 2004 - No Golfers Strike BMW Models

BMW Vietnam Classic 2004, the annual golf tournament held by Vietnam Motors Corp. (VMC), successfully ended on November 20 at Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club with the participation of more than 140 amateurs who are Vietnamese and foreigners living in Vietnam. Young, talented Nguyen Thai Duong shines bright, surpassing all the seniors to win "Men's best gross" of division A.

Being an amateur tournament, there are 3 divisions within BMW Vietnam Classic 2004. Especially in division A, golfers have the chance to win both "Men's best gross" and "Men's best net". For the difference of capabilities amongst three divisions, the competitiveness also varies. Golfers playing in Division A showed more techniques and more aggressive movements than the rest.

This year's BMW golf tournament is of great attractiveness to these amateurs with the four biggest ever hole-in-one prizes (four luxurious BMW cars). Unfortunately, none of the golfers could bring home any glossy BMW for hole-in-one prizes. However, this does not make the game less interesting since there are more prizes for the participants. Those are "Nearest to the pin", "Longest drive",   and "Nearest to the line".

It was a good day for young golfer Nguyen Thai Duong. He played consistently during 18 holes with nice birdie in the first hole and consecutive pars in the followings. Despite the unlucky double bogey in hole 18, Duong still won over all the seniors to lead division A with 78 strokes. Also in the group, the wise Nguyen Tri Dung (handicap 11) makes his good fortune with the "Men's best net", finishing 18 holes at net 3-under 69.

More relaxing in division B and C, the golfers competed peacefully in the friendship. The "Men's best net" of division B finally belonged to Desmond Lee; while the local Le Minh Son led division C. Especially in this tournament, the organisers also present "Ladies best gross" to Mrs. Do Thi Kim Oanh. This proved that more local women have involved in the man sport.

The presenting ceremony was held in the evening at Deawoo Hotel in Hanoi and great expectations of both the golfers and the organising board have been put forward to the next BMW Vietnam Classic.
