A meaningful meeting between the press and the business circle was recently hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA). This commemorative event not only celebrated the 89th Vietnam Journalism Day (June 21) but, more importantly, promoted ties between the business community and the press.
This meeting was not a new initiative. Previously, VCCI hosted very impressive "Summer Meeting" seminars, reviewing and assessing journalist - entrepreneur ties to deepen mutual understanding. The connectivity always existed even although entrepreneurs and journalists did not meet very often. This “Entrepreneur - Journalist Dialogue” reiterated that connectivity. Interconnectivity, sharing, companionship and self-improvement for a common goal - for the development of the country - were the meaning of the dialogue and exchange between businesspeople and journalists.
Journalists and businesspeople discussed the roles of the press in business operations. This is essentially a two-way relationship. Enterprises need to have the press and the media to spread their information, popularise their products and services, and encourage creative achievements. For its part, the press considers enterprises a source of information and topics and a source of creative inspirations to make up press works. Businesses are also a big, indispensable source of financial funds for the press.
Politically and socially significant campaigns are launched to support the community, protect the country's sovereignty, build the new countryside, aid victims of natural disasters, and assist vulnerable people. Their support is more valuable as global economic downturn and domestic economic slowdown.
VJA Chairman Thuan Huu: To enhance the quality of information on business operations, the cooperation between enterprises and the press is necessary.
This meeting comprised two specially important events for entrepreneur - press ties. VCCI awarded commemorative medals “For the development of businesses” to journalists for their long-term effective contributions to operations of enterprises. VCCI and the VJA signed a cooperation agreement to uphold this common goal: Developing national industrialisation and modernisation and international integration.
According to the cooperation agreement, the press and the business circle are committed to propagandising and disseminating Party guidelines and policies, State laws and policies on businesses and entrepreneurs. The press illustrates operations and opinions of enterprises to improve investment and business environment and extricate difficulties and obstacles in production and business for enterprises.
The press hosts events to boost popularity and honour enterprises and entrepreneurs to raise their roles, positions and reputations; discovers and encourages exemplary cases of domestic and foreign companies in Vietnam and Vietnamese firms in foreign nations. VCCI provides information and facilitates journalists to work effectively.
VCCI and VJA will jointly organise journalism prizes, encourage their members to take part in and support operations of each side. Specific cooperation programmes will be developed based on specific conditions and agreements for each activity.
Every year, VJA and VCCI will meet, discuss, assess, draw experience, and supplement contents for more effective cooperation.
