The four-day holiday for National Day 2014 has driven a high travelling demand of Vietnamese people.
This is also a golden opportunity for travel operators in Hanoi to discount tour prices, improve service quality and open new tours to draw more tourists.

Orders for the holiday have increased from 20 percent from a year ago since June 2014, according to many travel agencies. Tourists are very interested in new domestic destinations. Vietrantour Company has opened air and road tours to Sunspa Quang Binh Resort, Paradise Cave, and General Vo Nguyen Giap Tomb in Vung Chua, Dao Yen, Quang Binh province.

Ms Pham Thanh Tam, Head of Domestic Tour Department, Vietrantour Company, said that, with distinctive products and attractive promotion policies, Vietrantour expects to see a sharp rise of 20-30 percent in customers during the National Day holiday. “With lower tour prices than a year ago, as a big travel operator, Vietrantour has managed to sign contracts with domestic and international airlines to offer discounted tickets for customers,” she added.

Mr Nguyen Cong Hoan, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Redtour Travel Company, said that his company has added tours to northwest provinces like Lai Chau - Moc Chau - Dien Bien - Son La and Ha Giang - Dong Van - Lung Cu - Meo Vac. So far, routes to domestic routes like Nha Trang and Da Nang have reached 80 percent of capacity and tours to the Northwest have also reached 50 percent of capacity. Most tourists set out their vacation on August 30 and finish on September 2. Hanoi Redtour’s far outbound tours to Europe and the United States have closed booking while tours to South Korea and Japan are still open for sale. Bookings to Hong Kong and Singapore have fulfilled 60-70 percent of capacity.

National Day, September 2, is considered the last summer travel season. Most tourists opt for short-day vacation because of reasonable prices. However, according to some travellers, discounted prices are not enough but service quality and new fascinating destinations count. Ms Truong Huong Thao, who lives on Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi, said “I prefer visiting Danang City if I have a couple of days off. I go travelling on my own quite often. I hope tour fees, air tickets and room rates are also reasonable. I also know that many tours now have quite high quality.”

According to experts, tourists are enjoying good tour prices during the National Day holidays thanks to the cooperation of transport firms, hotels and restaurants. However, they should choose trusted operators to avoid unnecessary risks.
