The Prime Minister has approved the master plan for agricultural areas and zones applying high technologies towards 2020 with orientations to 2030.
The planning is aimed to contribute to promoting the development of agriculture in the direction of modern, large-scale commodity production, productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, to guarantee food security and national food and to increase exports.
According to the plan, by 2020, in addition to two agricultural zones applying high technology including Hau Giang and Phu Yen provinces which have been approved by the Prime Minister, the planning and construction of eight agricultural zones applying high technology including Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Can Tho will be carried out. These are agricultural areas of high technology applications established by the provincial People's Committees.
Agricultural areas of high technology applications have also been planned, including coffee-producing regions with high-tech applications concentrated in the Central Highlands, Northwest and North Central areas, tea producing areas with high-tech applications in Thai Nguyen (green tea production) and Lam Dong (black tea production), dragon fruit producing areas with high-tech applications located in Binh Thuan, vegetable producing areas with high technology applications located in Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, flower producing areas with high-tech applications located in Lao Cai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, and important export fruit producing areas with high-tech applications located in the South East and the Mekong Delta.
The dairy areas using high-tech applications are in Son La, Hanoi, Nghe An and Lam Dong; foreign pig breed growing areas using high-tech applications are in the Red River Delta and the Southeast region. The poultry growing areas using high-tech applications are on the Red River Delta, Northeast, North Central region and the Mekong Delta.
The saltwater and fresh water shrimp producing areas using high-tech applications are located in the Red River Delta, North Central, South Central Coast, Southeast and Mekong Delta regions.
Under the decision with the orientation to 2030, 10 agricultural zones using high-tech applications under the master plan will be completed and put into use.
Besides, the planning research of agricultural zones using high-tech applications in Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Son La, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang and other provinces will be carried out.
