Three Vietnamese Banks on Forbes List of 2,000 Largest Companies
Three Vietnamese banks - Vietinbank, BIDV and Vietcombank - have made the list of the world’s 2,000 largest and most powerful public companies compiled by Forbes magazine.
The companies are ranked by a composite score that weighs four metrics: revenues, profits, asset and market value.
Vietinbank occupies No. 1,902 on the Global 2000 list while BIDV and Vietcombank are placed at No. 1,913 and No. 1,985 respectively.
According to Forbes, Vietinbank, also known as the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade has a market capitalisation of US$3 billion as of May 2015 with revenues in 2014 estimated at US$2.3 billion and profits at US$269.4 million.
BIDV or the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam has a market value of US$2.3 billion, earning revenues and profits of US$2.44 billion and US$233.7 million respectively.
Meanwhile Vietcombank has the largest market capitalisation among the three banks, estimated at US$4.4 billion as of May 2015. The lender’s respective revenues and profits in 2014 were US$1.65 billion and US$216.6 million.
In terms of assets, Vietinbank ranks at No. 769, BIDV at No. 783 and Vietcombank at No. 854.
