ICAEW (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with British University Vietnam (BUV) and Audit and Consulting Service company UHY ACA (UHY) to work jointly to provide ICAE’s certificate CFAB (Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business) for students and graduates of BUV.
This will give students the opportunity to gain an internationally-recognized qualification, enhancing their employability and helping them develop vital business skills.
The signing ceremony took place onJuly 29 in Hanoi in the presence of parents and students of the University as well as partners of all three parties. Accompanying UK Prime Minister David Cameron on his official visit to Vietnam, the Right Honorable Lord Maude of Horsham, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding.
“For young Vietnamese students looking to step into a rewarding career, ICAEW is an excellent choice. Certainly studying to become a chartered accountant will teach you financial skills that will last you a lifetime. It will enable you to become not just a finance professional, but a strategic business leader,” Lord Maude said.
This special cooperation program has been implemented since early 2015 to open up opportunities and pave the way for BUV students to become Chartered Accountants–a prestigious and well recognized professional designationin Accounting, Finance and Audit. This also givesa chance for BUV students to acquirea professional certificate that is globally recognized,while still working on their university program – gaining greater competitive advantage for their future career development.

ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) will equip students with essential knowledge and important practical skills - besides the academic knowledge offered in the University –helping them to meet the employment requirements of enterprises in today’sincreasingly competitive business environment. The professional certificate is internationallyrecognized as a firm foundation in business and finance. This will offer BUV students wider and more diverse career opportunities. In the meantime, the knowledge and practical skills equipped to students by CFABhelpstudents more effectively and efficiently approach their futurework assignments, paving their ways to better career paths.
UHY, an ICAEW Partner in Learning and Authorized Training Employer, will deliver the ICAEW CFAB modules for students and graduates of BUV. Successful completion of the six modules of the ICAEW CFAB will result in students being awarded the ICAEW CFAB. Students who achieve good results may also wininternship opportunitiesat UHY or ICAEW’s Authorised Training Employers (ATEs)in Vietnam.
The first class of the program started on 05/19/2015 with 14 students who arenow completing their first module –Accounting.
