Seven-month CPI Posts Record Low in 13 Years

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July rose 0.13 percent against the previous month and saw a year-on-year increase of 0.9 percent, according to the General Statistics Office.

The CPI increased 0.68 percent compared to December last year, constituting the lowest figure recorded since 2002.

The prices of transport and health services only put up 0.16 percent and 0.15 percent, respectively.

As the price of restaurants and food services saw successive declines in the previous three months, the price of this group increased 0.1 percent in July. The foodstuff price decreased 0.28 percent while the food price rose 0.24 percent.

Weather impacts led to the augment of 0.25 percent in garment, hats and footwear prices.

The price of telecommunications group slightly rose 0.02 percent against the previous month.

Gold price declined by 1.24 percent while that of the US$ rose by 0.09 percent on-month.
