On the morning of April 7, right after the swearing-in ceremony at the Dien Hong Hall, where the 13th National Assembly (NA) proceeded the last term, newly-elected Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received the very first public letter.

NA Member Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), handed the letter to the new Prime Minister.

On behalf of the business community, Mr Loc congratulated the head of government on the new position. He said that the business community of Vietnam is confident that the new Government led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will be a popular, active and reformist government.

VCCI President Loc also reiterated the content endorsed at the Resolution of the 12 Party National Congress and at the National Assembly: “Strive to basically perfect and synchronise socialist-oriented market economy institutions by 2020 according to common standards of modern market economy and international integration”, “Encourage and accelerate the progress of starting up business, have policies to develop Vietnamese companies in both quantity and quality to become a core force and take the lead in the cause of industrialisation and modernisation” and “Create all favourable conditions for developing a strong private sector to generate motivations for enhancing economic competitiveness.”

To realise important directives mentioned above, at the wish of the business community, VCCI proposed, in the letter, coordinating with the Office of Government to organise a meeting between the Prime Minister and the business community in 2016 under the theme of “National business development programme.”

The Prime Minister will chair the meeting and direct the business community and government agencies to discuss and suggest solutions for working out the national action plan for business development for the next five years, to realise the ambitious target of having 1.5 - 2 million effective enterprises in operation by 2020, and to put forth measures and policies to deal with existing difficulties and challenges to boost business development in 2016.

Mr Loc said the Prime Minister agreed with the proposals and assigned VCCI and relevant bodies to prepare the meeting, expected to take place in late April 2016 at the Reunification Palace (Ho Chi Minh City).

The meeting concurs on the anniversary of South Vietnam Liberation and International Labour Day, signifying the message of action and renovation “Quick, quick and much quicker. Bold, bold and much bolder” as in the message legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap sent to all the armed forces during the Ho Chi Minh Campaign over 40 years ago, Mr Loc said.
