German Minister Expects More Concrete Cooperation Opportunities with Hanoi Capital

Within the working visit to Vietnam by Mr Martin Dulig, Minister of Economy, Labour and Transportation; Deputy Governor of the State of Sachsen – Federal Republic of Germany, accompanied by German delegates, entities and enterprises recently had a working session with Chairman of Ha Noi’s People Committee, Mr Nguyen Duc Chung.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Martin Dulig expressed his great impression on the rapid development of Vietnam in general and the Hanoi capital in particular, especially the youthfulness and dynamism of the workforce. However, he stressed that Vietnam - like other countries - is facing issues of sustainable development, environmental protection, urban infrastructure. Then, Mr Martin Dulig expressed his hope that through this trip, the delegation would open up more concrete cooperation opportunities with Hanoi Capital to solve the challenges.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung agreed with Mr Sachsen about issues that City has been facing. Affirming the Federal Republic of Germany is always the top priority of the capital when selecting partners, the Chairman would like be able to promote the connection between small and medium enterprises as well as the large corporations from two sides in the future, as premise for more cooperation projects.

Within the framework, the German delegation also paid a working visit to Song Duong Surface Water Treatment Plant (SDWTP). The meeting’s focus were on exchanging and sharing experiences on investing cooperation in implementing technical infrastructure project such as water supply; wastewater and mud treatment; renewable energy; new technologies development with Aquaone enterprise; visiting the phase 1A plant; visiting the construction site for phase 1B according to the plant expansion scheme.

SDWTP has been in operation and supplying water commercially since October 2018 with the capacity of 150,000 m3 per day night. The phase 2 of capacity enhancement to 300,000 m3 per day night till October 2019 has already commencing and conducted by Aone Deutschland AG and Strabag joint-venture contractor from Germany. With state-of-the-art technology, the plant materialises the objective of Ha Noi City, which is to supply clean water to citizens satisfying all German and European drinkable at valve standards.

Mr Minister witnessed the signing ceremony of the MOU between Aquaone and Aone Deusheuche – Germany for the investment cooperation of constructing the solar energy system on top of the water treatment tanking system at Song Duong water treatment plant with the potential capacity up to 10.8 mWp. The memorandum will contribute to the promotion of cooperation, technology transfer and experience exchange in developing efficient investment projects in Viet Nam.
