Vietnam - Bangladesh Trade Cooperation Fostered

The seminar on “Opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between Vietnamese businesses and Bangladeshi businesses in Hong Kong” was held and chaired by Dr. Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on September 17.

The event was attended by Mr. Fazle Azin - Chairman of Bangladesh Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Madam Samina Naz - Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam, Mr. Le Hong Minh - Director of Investment Promotion Center for Industry and Trade Development, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 17 Bangladeshi companies in Hong Kong and more than 50 Vietnamese businesses interested in Bangladesh market.

VCCI Vice President Doan Duy Khuong said, Vietnam and Bangladesh need to promote trade to bring the two-way value to US$1 billion by 2020.

Speaking at meeting, Mr. Le Hong Minh said that, as of August 2019, Vietnam attracted 29,523 FDI projects with US$353.68 billion from 132 countries and territories, including Bangladesh. However, the two countries have not yet fully tapped their potential and strengths to increase the two-way trade.
