The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) is planning a trade promotion program entitled "Days of Vietnam's Aquatic Products" in Brussels, Belgium, in late April.
According to VASEP, 200 representatives from enterprises, import companies, supermarkets and distributors from European countries will participate in a seminar on April 27. A gastronomic festival will also take place from April 28-30 using "tra" and "basa" catfish and shrimp as the main raw materials.
A cooking contest between European and Vietnamese chefs will also be organized during the three day festival, it also said.
Currently, about 20 aquatic product enterprises have registered to participate in the program.
Belgium is an attractive destination for many world leading aquatic product distributors and the biggest importer of Vietnam's seafood in Europe
In related development, VASEP has plans to open representative offices in the EU to promote fisheries exports to potential markets with the eventual hope of receiving a US$3 billion turnover altogether each year.
