Abbott’s New Enhanced Glucerna Formula Provides Benefits to Help Manage Blood Sugar

On December 10, Abbott launched a new and enhanced reformulation of Glucerna designed to further improve insulin sensitivity and achieve glycemic control in four weeks by minimizing blood glucose spikes and reducing glycemic variability, with daily use.  

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing global health challenges today with the number of people with diabetes expected to increase 51% globally from 2019 to 2045.

In Vietnam, the prevalence of diabetes among adults (aged 20 – 79) is affecting 3.77 million adults in 2019, and there are around 2 million of adults living with undiagnosed diabetes. Focusing on proven solutions – including the essential role of nutrition in diabetes management – can help decrease the burden of the disease.

Three out of four people living with diabetes have poor glycemic control due to a variety of factors that include dietary habits, genetic predisposition and unhealthy lifestyle.

Improved Glucerna formulation
The dual therapeutic benefits of Glucerna’s new formulation promote GLP-1 secretion with its unique nutrients and improve insulin sensitivity for better glycemic control. It minimizes blood glucose spikes and helps people reach glucose control in four weeks by reducing glycemic variability, with daily use.

The new formula has:

• An improved carbohydrate blend and four times more of the nutrient myo-inositol* to help manage blood sugar
• An upgraded formula with 35 nutrients, including 28 vitamins and minerals for completed and balanced nutrition.
• Increased levels of micronutrients such as vitamin D, calcium, iron and zinc and to help meet the nutritional needs of people living with diabetes 
• A heart-healthy lipid blend with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids
