This summer will see a boom in the number of Vietnamese people traveling abroad as orders for outbound tours in the next three months are piling up at local tour operators, a survey from a local popular newspaper showed.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, development-researching executive of the top travel company Vietravel, his company has received nearly 10,000 orders for outbound tours in the next three months. In June alone, the number was 2,600, up 800 orders over the previous month.
The Fiditourit Co., also a leading tour operator, reported the number of domestic people booking tours abroad was around 8,000, up 1,000 clients on-year.
Other tourism companies including Saigon Tourist and Ben Thanh Tourist also announced increases by between 10-30 per cent on-year.

However, local tourism experts warned local holiday-makers that they should weigh pros and cons before booking tours at certain tour operation agencies because last year's summer saw a series of complaints from Vietnamese traveling abroad reporting low quality of such tours.
Statistics from VNAT revealed that the number of Vietnamese holidaymakers traveling abroad last year was up one third over the previous year.
