Vietnam to Hold Int'l Vietfish 2005 in June

The Vietnam Association for Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) will organize the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2005) at the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition and Convention Center (HIECC) on June 14-16 this year, with participants from both domestic and foreign firms.

Vietfish 2005 will showcase products such as fresh, frozen, dried or salted fish and shrimp, equipment, machinery, packing, chemicals, marine feed, seafood processing and other matters related to the fisheries industry, said Nguyen Huu Dzung, VASEP General Secretary.

The exhibition will also feature electronic scales and flash-freezing technologies. There will also be a forum offering discussions on equipment, engineering, and trademark, entitled “Application Devices in the Freezing System, Monitoring Quality and Saving Energy in the Field of Seafood Processing”.

Meanwhile businesses will also have the chance to access fisheries services, and obtain information on raising technology and applying HACCP international food standards to their products.

The exhibition is expected to attract 138 participants from the US, China, Japan, Denmark, Canada, France, Thailand, and Norway with nearly 210 exhibition stalls. Among the exhibitors there are 60 seafood processors, 39 providers of seafood processing equipment, nine providers of chemicals and food additives, six providers of materials for seafood processing and two providers of veterinary pills and fish food.

Most of the companies are the Vietnamese seafood sector's key customers and at Vietfish they want to look for new suppliers. Others come to learn more about the local seafood industry. Some 300 international guests from many seafood-importing countries will visit the fair as well.

Vietfish 2005 is only one of a few international fairs organized in Asia annually. Vietfish 2004 attracted 170 exhibitors from both domestic and foreign with 135 booths.
