Ford Expects to Sell 6,000 Cars in Vietnam in 2005 

 

Ford Vietnam Limited expects to sell nearly 6,000 cars this year, up from 5,618 units in 2004 and 3,701 units in 2002, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

 

The US-invested company sold 1,379 in the first five months of this year, up 1 per cent year-on-year and holding 10.7 per cent of the market share.

 

The company forecasts to pay VND900 billion (US$56.96 million) in 2005, a considerable increase from VND813.52 billion (US$51.48 million) in 2004 and VND256.23 billion (US$16.22 million) in 2002.

 

Prosperous business results have driven average monthly salary of Ford workers in Vietnam to US$293 in 2004 from US$222 in 2002.

 

Ford’s achievements are attributed to its launching of high-grade sedans, favorite and stylish sedans and the applications of ISO 9001, QS 9000, ISO 1400 and FORD-FPS quality management systems.

 

Ford Vietnam Limited is a joint venture between Ford Motor and Song Cong Diesel Co., starting operation in 1995 with an initial investment of US$102 million. Its factory with an annual capacity of 14,000 is located in the northern Hai Duong province.

 

The US-invested firm is selling Mondeo, Laser, Escape, Transit, Ranger and upcoming Everest in Vietnam.
