Carrying out the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress (2015-2020 tenure), the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 02-NQ/TU on infrastructure investment and development, especially transport infrastructure and urban infrastructure, in the 2016-2020 period. In five years of enforcement, the transport infrastructure system has been developed to be synchronous and modern to effectively meet people's travel demand and social and economic development requirements and attract investment funds into the province.

Currently, roads connect Quang Ngai with other provinces and cities in the region; connect the provincial center with district centers, economic zones and industrial zones, and connect district centers with communal centers. Quang Ngai has asphalted and concreted 3,174 km out of 3,618 km of roads or 87.7% of the total, including 100% of 419 km provincial roads, 83.7% of district roads (1,131/1,351 km); 96.3% of urban roads (279/290 km), and 86.3% of commune roads (1,345/1,558 km).

Some typical projects invested during this period were completed and put into operation to serve economic development and people's livelihoods, facilitate trade and socioeconomic development: Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway; upgraded National Highway 24 (Pho Phong - Ba To section), Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road (phase 1); flood-resistant roads; upgraded National Highway 1; Quang Ngai Bus Station; infrastructure and onshore services for Sa Ky Port and Ben Dinh Port; six passenger ships on Sa Ky - Ly Son Route; and 13 means of water transport for Dao Lon - Dao Be route.

Mr. Nguyen Phong, Director of Quang Ngai Department of Transport, said that in the last term, the department advised the Provincial People's Committee to ask the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial Party Committee for investment in many key traffic works like Tri Binh - Dung Quat Road; Dung Quat - Sa Huynh Coastal Road (phase 1); two roads along the Tra Khuc River from National Highway 1 to Dung Quat - Sa Huynh Coastal Road I (Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Road); Co Luy Bridge on Dung Quat - Sa Huynh route spanning over Tra Khuc River; and Thach Bich Bridge linking Quang Ngai City with Truong Quang Trong Ward. These important traffic works have created driving forces for stronger local socioeconomic growth and met public expectations in the province.

Fostering its achievements, in the 2020-2025 period, the Department of Transport will advise the Provincial People's Committee to ask the Provincial People's Council for operation of key traffic works such as Tra Khuc 3 Bridge and associated roads linking Tu Nghia district with Son Tinh district (after the 2025-2030 period, the route will be extended southward to Mo Duc and Duc Pho districts and northward to National Highway 24C); the traffic route that connects Hoang Sa Road with Doc Soi Road to Dung Quat Port; the traffic route linking Thach Bich Bridge with VSIP Industrial Park, Tinh Phong Industrial Park and National Highway 24C in Chau O town, Binh Son district; and the traffic route that connects National Highway 1A to Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway to Dung Quat - Sa Huynh Coastal Road. “In the 2020-2025 term, the construction and operation of these roads will catalyze convenient transportation to enable socioeconomic development, industrialization and modernization of the province," Phong emphasized.
