Regardless of its inaugural Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, Home Credit Vietnam has been practicing corporate social responsibility initiatives as part of its DNA since the first day of operation.

Home Credit has been operating in Vietnam since 2008. Nearly 6,000 Home Credit employees are serving more than 12 million customers – most of whom are not being served by traditional banks.

Ms. Annica Witschard, CEO of Home Credit Vietnam affirmed: “Home Credit's ESG policy is an evolution rather than a revolution. While this is the first time we have published a formal ESG report, ESG principles have long been embedded in our business since we entered the Vietnamese market in 2008.”

The relationship between Home Credit and its customers has been positive, with 75% of our customers are returning ones, who are satisfied with the service and are willing to share their experiences with family and friends. The foundation for this friend-to-friend relationship lies in the six pillars that the company focuses on implementing, including responsible finance, economic growth, digital empowerment, financial inclusion, sustainable communities, and diverse workforce.

Before setting up any financing service, Home Credit will offer customers the right product based on their needs and financial capabilities, ensuring that they clearly understand all essential information related to the service as well as helping them with a sustainable repayment plan.

The company also constantly promotes financial education activities such as events for first-time customers, an ongoing educational series - the “Smart Money” program aired on VTV1, and other online programs that provide financial knowledge to customers.

Apart from the Home Credit Group’s ESG policies, Home Credit Vietnam also actively initiates many CSR activities, especially during Covid-19 and social distancing. For example, Home Credit Vietnam launched Home Love, a program that donated 1 billion VND to the national vaccine fund, brought more than 30,000 meals and necessities to 10 field hospitals, quarantine facilities, charity homes, and homeless people.

In addition to the Home Love program, Home Credit has also funded the renovation of school facilities and given many scholarships to disadvantaged students. To promote the role of women in society, Home Credit provides free loans to female entrepreneurs and supports women with start-ups, allowing them greater stability and productivity in their business and daily life.

“Home Credit is leading the way in ESG standards in the consumer finance industry in Vietnam. I am proud of how quickly and decisively we have acted to support the community, especially during this challenging time of the Covid-19 pandemic.” shared Annica.
