PV Power Proposes to withdraw from Phase 1 of Ca Na LNG Power Center Project

PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) has officially proposed to withdraw from the Consortium to develop the Phase 1 of Ca Na LNG Power Center Project.

According to actual situation, PV Power realizes that if it withdraw from the consortium, it will create better opportunities for the consortium to continue implementing the project.

Currently, the first phase of Ca Na LNG Power Center Project with a capacity of 1,500 MW is attracting a number of interested investors such as the Korea Consortium including Hanwha Energy Corporation - Korea Gas Corporation - South Korea Power Corporation - Gulf MP Company Limited; Jera Company Inc.; Consortium of Total Gaz Electricite Holding France - Novatek Gas & Power Asia Pte Company - PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) - Siemens Energy AG Company - Zarubezhneft Joint Stock Company; Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company.

Recently, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province decided to apply international open bidding to select investors to implement this project.

The project of Ca Na LNG Power Center Phase 1 aims to build a gas power plant using combined cycle gas turbine technology, with a capacity of 1,500 MW. Regarding the material supply and handling system: the project has an LNG import port to meet the scale of LNG output through the port of 4.8 million tons/year. LNG storage with capacity of 4x1.2 million tons/year, scale of 4 tanks, each tank has a capacity of 180,000 m3. The first phase also has an entire LNG storage infrastructure and builds and installs a tank in advance to serve the needs of the project with a capacity of 1,500 MW and many other neccesary facilities…

The project will contribute to the local socio-economic development by attracting investment with a capital of about 49,000 billion VND, contributing to creating many jobs for businesses and local people.
