Vietnam will conduct a program to advertise its seafood products at a Vietnam food showcase in Brussels, Belgium, next month following the success of Vietnamese Cuisine Days, announced the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel, one of Belgium’s leading five-star hotels, in cooperation with the Vietnam Embassy, will organize the Vietnamese Food Day. This will be the first time that a hotel has held such a special event to introduce Vietnamese gastronomy.

The country has so far this year exported an estimated USUS$50 million worth of seafood to Belgium, a year-on-year rise of 50 per cent, thanks to efforts in promoting trade, the VASEP said, adding that Belgium ranks seventh among importers of Vietnamese seafood.

The main export items to the market are frozen shrimp and fish, accounting for 34.6 per cent and 45.5 per cent of the total export turnover, respectively.

In addition, Vietnamese businesses have also exported frozen cuttlefish and other processed seafood.

Currently, more than 70 Vietnamese businesses are involved in exporting seafood to Belgium.
