Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical corporation, is accelerating its commitment to bring positive impact to people, animals, communities, and the planet through a broad range of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs in Vietnam.
Continuous effort to make positive impacts
Boehringer Ingelheim has been known for its commitment to making positive impacts on the local community during its 25 years of presence in Vietnam. The company aims to transform lives for generations by creating value through innovation in areas of high unmet medical need. This year, the company has conducted multiple activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to support people in need and protect the environment.
In Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 250 Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam employees visited Ky Quang 2 Pagoda, Tu Hanh Pagoda, and Vinh Son Nursing Home, where many disadvantaged children, elderly people and orphans are living. The employees prepared meals for the residents of the shelters, cleaned the temple halls and shelter grounds, redecorated the living areas, and organized games for the children to play. Other groups gathered in District 2 to collect garbage and clean up the areas in Thu Thiem Tunnel. These activities helped create a strong sense of bonding within the company and strengthened the commitment to positively impact society and the environment.
On the same day in Hanoi, more than 90 Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam employees paid a visit to the Vietnam Friendship Village, which currently nurses 70 veterans and 120 children who are victims of Agent Orange. The company staff made dinner for the people in the village, tidied up their living area, played with children, and donated gifts. Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam’s employees also went to the Backyard Squad Animal Rescue Station to clean up, feed, and give baths to baby animals. The station is currently taking care of 240 dogs and more than 40 cats that were injured and abandoned.
These activities are part of VTI (Value Through Innovation) Day, one of the highlights in Boehringer Ingelheim’s cultural calendar taking place on May 10 across the globe. On this day, employees are invited and encouraged to reflect on and interact with the cultural framework for the company and celebrate what they have achieved as an organization. They are also encouraged to recognize that every action they take impacts future generations. With the 2023 theme ‘Seize the Now,’ all staff are encouraged to focus on the opportunities in the present, inspired by the possibilities ahead, and bring them to life. They are also encouraged to take action to shape a better future for human and animal health, communities, and our planet.
Ms. Cyndy Bautista-Galimpin, General Manager of Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam, said: “We are committed to addressing health and environmental challenges with initiatives that are comprehensive and tailored to the needs of each community group. With the support of many partners in Vietnam, as well as around the world, we can work together to improve treatment outcomes, improve health, and live in harmony with the planet, animals, and each other.”
Strengthen commitments to improve the quality of life of people and animals
Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam works with the World Stroke Association (WSO), national health associations, businesses, organizations and hospitals to build a progressive stroke network. By the end of 2022, there were 32,900 patients treated in stroke ready hospitals.
Within the same year, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam donated 64 digital devices worth more than US$10,000 (nearly VND 250 million) to Maison Chance, an NGO providing accommodation, health care, learning and vocational training opportunities for the less fortunate.
With the goal of improving animal health, the company has worked closely with veterinarians, pet owners, and health authorities to implement the program "Rabies Vaccination for the Community" since 2021, with a total of more than 12,400 vaccinated dogs and cats. In April 2023, this program continued to provide free rabies vaccination to 7,000 dogs and cats in Duc Hue District, Long An.
Recently, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam has been honored for the fourth year in succession for its outstanding employee benefits, with emphasis on well-being, an attractive work environment, and rewards and recognition.
