“The Green Dream of Childhood” is an initiative by SCG, a leading conglomerate in ASEAN renowned for its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, and Limloop, a social business dedicated to producing recycled fashion in support of people with disabilities. The campaign offers a range of activities, including inspirational talks by successful individuals with disabilities, on-the-job training at Limloop workshops, and a joyous celebration to reflect on the entire journey. These engaging endeavors provide not only excitement but also life-changing experiences for the participants.

Mr. Praween Wirotpan, General Director of SCG Vietnam shared, “At SCG, we prioritize sustainable development through our ESG 4 Plus strategy, which includes a commitment to supporting communities. One of our key directions is Reducing Inequality by focusing on education and human development. For the past 14 years, SCG has been supporting the Ba Ria Vung Tau School for Disabled Children, aiming to enhance education quality and provide opportunities for children in need. We hope the series of activities will inspire students to shape their dreams and motivate them to achieve them.”

The first activity of the “The Green Dream of Childhood” involved a "Inspire in Silence" with influential speakers who have disabilities. These speakers come from various backgrounds, ranging from textile crafters to store visualizers to entrepreneurs. Despite facing life challenges, these individuals serve as inspirational figures within the community. Not only are they highly skilled in their respective careers, but they also create opportunities for others in need.

Nhung Nguyen, CEO of Limloop and the main partner of the program, expressed delight in joining forces with SCG for this meaningful campaign to celebrate International Children's Day for these extraordinary children: “People with disabilities tend to face challenges in excelling in life due to their physical and mental disadvantages. However, programs like this instill confidence and hope in a brighter future, where they can become valuable citizens who contribute to their country and the world,” she said.

In addition to inspiring, the program cooperated with SCG to  offer the children real-life experience by allowing them to spend a day working at Limloop, a workshop run by people with disabilities. At Limloop, the students from the Ba Ria Vung Tau School for Disabled Children are introduced to the process of manufacturing recycled fashion items using used plastic bags. Most notably, they are guided to design a special collection in collaboration with Limloop, named “The Green Dream of Childhood”. This collection includes designed tote bags, laptop holders, and cosmetic containers, featuring patterns inspired by Vietnam's lush forests and expansive blue ocean. Moreover, 500 wooden pins, painted by the students of Ba Ria - Vung Tau School for Disabled Children, will serve as decorative ornaments to manifest the collection of dreams. The collection then will be available for sale on Limloop's Facebook page from now until June; and all proceeds will be donated to the vocational program of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau School for Disabled Children.

The campaign culminates in a celebration of International Children’s Day at the Ba Ria - Vung Tau School for Disabled Children on May 24. Hundreds of students partake in half a day of entertainment and festivity. Moreover, the school proudly hosted “The Green Dream of Childhood” exhibition, showcasing various recycling projects created by students. The exhibition received high appreciation from all participants, highlighting the creativity and environmental consciousness of the students.

A representative from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau School for Disabled Children expressed heartfelt gratitude to SCG and its partners for spearheading such a meaningful program for the students. “This collaborative effort signifies an ongoing journey towards a brighter future for all the beloved students. We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support received from all parties, particularly SCG, in making dreams come true for our hundreds of students.”

In addition to their invaluable contributions, SCG handed over school equipment to support the school's facilities. Furthermore, to facilitate waste segregation at the school and encourage the children to a green lifestyle, hundreds of gift packs for students and trash bins for school prepared by SCG and Duy Tan, a member company of SCGP, Packaging Business of SCG and gifts from TokyoLife were distributed to bring smiles and joy to their faces.
