HCM City Unearths Goods in Violation Worth Over VND1,300 Bln

Out of nearly 1,000 cases of customs law violations detected in the first five months of 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department prosecuted and proposed to prosecute 17 serious violations.

In May 2023, the department worked with relevant forces to unveil and seize 110 cases of violation, including an illegal drug export case, nine customs control cases and 99 administrative violation cases. The total value of violated goods was estimated at over VND432.2 billion.

In the year to May 10, the department worked with relevant bodies to discover and capture 957 cases, including one smuggling case, 15 drug-related cases; 29 customs control violation cases and 912 administrative violation cases. The value of violated goods was estimated at over VND1,321 billion.

Notably, among drug trafficking cases, the department effectively coordinated with the police force to expand the investigation and arrest violators.

The department also sanctioned 941 administrative violations with a fine value of nearly VND16 billion, while prosecuting and transferring 17 cases to other bodies for criminal prosecution.
