Prime Minister Hosts Delegation from U.S. House of Representatives

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday hosted a reception for a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives led by Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means Jason Smith in Ha Noi.

Pham reiterated that Viet Nam always treasures the Comprehensive partnership with the U.S., welcoming the U.S. to strengthen collaboration with Viet Nam, respect the Southeast Asian nation's political institution and advocate a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Viet Nam.

The Vietnamese leader underlined the need to increase exchanges and visits, and foster cooperation in fields of trade, investment, science-technology, education-training, innovation, semiconductor chip production, digital transformation, energy transition, green growth, diversification of supply chains and climate change adaption.

He suggested U.S. Congressmen voice their support for reducing trade remedies and technical barriers and making it easier for Viet Nam's advantageous commodities such as agro-aquatic-forestry products to get access to the U.S. market.

Pham called on the U.S. Congress to continue providing assistance for Viet Nam in overcoming war aftermath and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the country.

U.S. representatives hailed Viet Nam's strong performances, particularly the country's efforts in reaching high growth and ensuring food security, energy security, health and sustainable public finance.

They expected to promote the bilateral relationship, particularly in boosting economic and trade ties and maintaining the sustainability of supply chains.

U.S. legislators vowed to work closely with Viet Nam in coping with global and regional challenges.
