President Pham Tan Cong of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) recently met with Mr. Torii Shingo, President of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in Hanoi. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral trade relations and enhance support for businesses from both countries.

The two sides discussed the strong relationship between the two countries, which is evident in their economic and trade cooperation. More than 2,000 Japanese businesses are currently investing and operating in Vietnam. Mr. Shingo remarked that this number is very impressive, second only to the number of Korean businesses.

VCCI President Pham Tan Cong evaluated that Japanese businesses are always potential partners of Vietnamese businesses, and expressed his commitment to support businesses from both countries to collaborate in advancing trade and investment towards new achievements.

OCCI President Torii Shingo also introduced the master plan to organize World Expo 2025 in Osaka city, Kansai province, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025. Mr. Torii Shingo hoped that this event would serve as the foundation for Japan to attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations by 2030. Specifically, World Expo 2025 will focus on the theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” with three main sub-themes: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives.

After learning about the purpose and significance of the event, Mr. Pham Tan Cong pledged to strongly support OCCI to successfully organize this event. In addition, Mr. Pham Tan Cong also mentioned that in 2023, many cooperation programs between the two countries would be organized, including investment promotion forums in four provinces: Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen and Hai Duong. The VCCI President promised to organize annual forums to strengthen ties and create cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese businesses and localities, and foreign partners.
