Of the figure, the export value of forestry products hit US$1.49 billion, up 72.5 percent, aquatic items US$730 million, up 60.8 percent, and farm produce US$2.71 billion, up 93.8 percent.

Notablly, farm produce exports to America soared by 93.6 percent to US$1.18 billion; to Africa up 185.4 percent to reach US$104 million; to Asia up 86.3 percent to US$2.52 billion; to Europe up 38.2 percent to US$532 million; and to Oceania up 100.9 percent to US$78 million.

China was the biggest importer of Viet Nam's farm produce in January, accounting for 23 percent of the total export turnover of farm produce, followed by the U.S. and Japan, making up 20.8 percent and 7.4 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Viet Nam spent US$3.72 billion on importing agro-aquatic-forestry products in January.

The total export value of agro-forestry-fishery products exceeded US$53 billion in 2023, resulting in a trade surplus of more than US$12 billion.

The nation has set a target of obtaining US$54-55 billion in agro-forestry-aquatic export revenue this year.
