VCCI, Mondelez Kinh Do Join Forces to Advance Sustainable Development

In a recent meeting, Mr. Pham Tan Cong, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), hosted a meeting with Mr. Anil Viswanathan, CEO of Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam.

During the meeting, Mr. Viswanathan illuminated Mondelez Kinh Do’s efforts in swiftly adapting to market fluctuations and catering to the evolving needs of their diverse customer base. He expressed his confidence in the developmental potential of Vietnam and committed to the continued promotion of sustainable practices within the country.

As an active member of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), Mondelez Kinh Do is ardently supporting the sustainable development trajectory in Vietnam. Mr. Viswanathan emphasized that the “Trash Right” Project forms an important component of Mondelez International’s sustainability strategy in Southeast Asia.

In Vietnam, the “Trash Right” Program is centered around constructing a circular economy for plastic waste. It aims to create opportunities for community participation, particularly among the youth, in waste sorting and recycling. Furthermore, the program is designed to enhance environmental consciousness and impart knowledge and skills for sustainable and effective waste management.

Mondelez Kinh Do has achieved a recycled packaging rate of over 97.5% and is striving to attain the 100% target ahead of the scheduled timeline in 2025. Mr. Viswanathan underscored the company’s commitment to sustainable development, which includes the utilization of sustainable materials and packaging, along with the implementation of environmental initiatives.

He also pledged to maintain close collaboration with VCCI and VBCSD to advocate for the circular economy, generate employment opportunities, and mitigate adverse environmental impacts.

In response, VCCI President Pham Tan Cong lauded Mondelez Kinh Do’s significant contributions towards elevating the awareness of sustainable development in Vietnam. He expressed his optimism about the growth potential of Vietnam’s economy and anticipated enhanced cooperation to amplify the understanding of sustainable development goals within the business community.

He further highlighted VBCSD’s role in fostering a social community to augment the awareness of sustainable consumption and the application of responsible and sustainable business models.
