Efforts for Advanced New-Styled Rural District

With the collective effort of the entire political system and local people, Thanh Oai district strives to meet advanced new rural standards by 2024. The district is working hard to fulfill unmet criteria and further improve the achieved ones.

Thanh Oai is the first district of Hanoi City to have been unanimously voted by members of the Steering Committee for National Target Programs of Hanoi City to propose for recognition. This is the foundation for the district to complete and submit documents to the central government for consideration, evaluation and recognition of Thanh Oai as an advanced new rural district. Despite starting later than its peers, Thanh Oai embarked decisively and made breakthroughs in implementing the program.

Unanimity

Defining that enabling Thanh Oai district to fulfill advanced new rural development standards is a key, regular task in the socioeconomic development plan for 2024, right from the beginning of the year, the Thanh Oai People's Committee worked out an action plan for new rural construction for each locality in the district, requiring relevant agencies, units and localities to seriously carry it out with the highest determination to successfully accomplish the given goals.

Accordingly, communes and towns actively defined goals and tasks and proposed solutions and roadmaps for implementation. By the end of 2023, Thanh Oai district had 12 out of 20 communes to meet advanced new rural standards, accounting for 60% of total communes and three communes to achieve model new rural development standards, accounting for 15%. Kim Bai town was accredited to fulfill civilized urban standards. In 2024, Thanh Oai directed and strived to have three more communes to realize advanced new rural development standards and two communes to achieve model new rural development standards. With this result, Thanh Oai is qualified to request competent authorities to evaluate and recognize it to meet advanced new rural development standards in 2024.

Sharing about new rural development results in the district, Bui Hoang Phan, Secretary of Thanh Oai Party Committee, said that Thanh Oai district has aroused the strength of the entire political system and the solidarity and unity of the people working together for new rural development. From 2021 to the third quarter of 2024, Thanh Oai people contributed and supported more than VND79.5 billion, nearly 3,000 working days and 1,594 square meters of land to build infield roads, stone benches and fitness equipment installed at public places in residential areas. The district also strengthened communications, organized general sanitation campaigns, preserved the landscape and rural environment, shaped a civilized and cultured lifestyle, a green, clean and beautiful living environment and invested in urbanizing infrastructure. At the same time, Thanh Oai formed concentrated production areas for agricultural restructuring.

Besides, the Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations of the district continued to promote their core role of communication in mobilizing youth members, union members, rural residents and the business community to actively participate in advanced new rural development programs and plans launched by the district. At the same time, they also organized movements and activities with specific and appropriate goals to engage youth members and union members to participate in implementation, create a bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe environmental landscape, and improve the quality of life of local people.

Efforts for the given goals

At the conference on proposed recognition of Thanh Oai district to meet advanced new rural development standards in 2024, recently held by the Hanoi People's Committee, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai reported the examination result of submitted documents and the implementation of new rural development criteria for Thanh Oai district towards fulfilling advanced new rural development standards in 2024. Accordingly, Thanh Oai district met all advanced new rural development criteria.

Nguyen Manh Quyen, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, assigned the Hanoi Coordination Office for New Rural Development Program to collaborate with the Thanh Oai People's Committee to review and unify the document before submitting it to the central government for consideration and appraisal. He also requested the committee to improve multiform communications on new rural development, organize general sanitation campaigns, preserve rural landscapes and environments, shape civilized and cultured lifestyles, and form a green, clean and beautiful living environment.

To realize its advanced new rural development goals, Thanh Oai district adopted many key tasks and solutions with high resolution right from the start of the year. According to an official from the Thanh Oai People's Committee, one of the first solutions to be implemented and maintained was to boost communications to raise awareness of the meaning and importance of the journey towards an advanced new rural district.

Thanh Oai infrastructure is focused on development

With the sharpness and creative application of communication forms, Thanh Oai district effectively promoted communication on new rural development, effectively using mass media channels and distributing leaflets, billboards and posters. Moreover, the district used the time during conferences, seminars, training drills, cultural and artistic events, physical education and sporting activities to respond to propaganda about new rural development on social networks like Facebook, Zalo and YouTube.

In addition to boosting communication forms, Thanh Oai district focused on perfecting criteria on culture, income, access to water, solid waste sorting at source, reused agricultural by-products and environmental landscape.

Bui Hoang Phan, Secretary of the Thanh Oai Party Committee, said that Thanh Oai district, based on its achievements, has gradually affirmed its position in new rural development and advanced new rural development. The district is committed to further promoting these activities, improving the quality of life of people, developing the socio-economy and protecting the environment, thus enabling the sustainable development of the district in the coming time.
