Vietnam's Firm to Showcase Seafood at Boston Fair
The Ca Mau Seafood Processing and Import-Export Company (Camimex), one of Vietnam’s biggest seafood producers, will attend the International Boston Seafood Show in the US, in March.
“We will go to the show to seek more opportunities to establish our products’ presence in big markets like the US,” said an official from Camimex.
In order to set a firmer foothold in both the foreign and domestic market, Camimex plans to invest more than VND10 billion into building a 1,000 ton cold storage facility and upgrading its processing lines to meet increasing demand from consumers.
Camimex reportedly raked in US$10.5 million in export value in the first two months of the year, including US$5.8 million in February.
Last year, the company’s total export turnover reached nearly US$70 million.
At present, Camimex's seafood products, mainly shrimp products, are available in 30 countries and territories worldwide, of which the US is the biggest customer, accounting for 60 per cent of the company's export value, followed by Japan with 20 per cent then Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The company's seafood export items have received worthy certificates such as the US FDA Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and ISO 9001-2000.
