Southern China to Import 5Mln Tons of Coal from Vietnam
Southern provinces in China will import around five million tons of coal, mainly anthracite, from Vietnam in the next 3-5 years in order to meet the region’s increasing demand for energy.
Recently, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has signed an agreement on implementing the above coal export plan with the Tiangchang Investment Co. Ltd, of China’s Guangxi province and the Marubeni Corp. of Japan.
“Coal imported from Vietnam will help boost economic development in the southern region of China,” said Chen Wu, vice-chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The Tianchang Investment Co. Ltd. is involved in the production of alcohol, petroleum and liquefied gas, and operations of harbor facilities specifically designed for coal.
The Marubeni Corporation is among the world's top 500 multinational corporations and the National Coal and Mineral Group of Vietnam is the sole firm in the country to do coal-related business.
