On February 14, 2025, at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Hanoi, the Ceremony to welcome Bat Trang Ceramics and Van Phuc Silk Villages to officially become members of the Global Creative Craft Cities Network took place. This is not only a great event for the two traditional craft villages but also brings pride to Hanoi, a place with thousands of years of civilization, where unique cultural values are preserved and promoted.
Becoming a member of the Global Creative Craft Cities Network not only affirms the cultural and artistic values of Bat Trang ceramics and Van Phuc silk, but is also an opportunity to promote the image of Vietnamese culture to the world. This event will contribute to raising public awareness of traditional crafts and sustainable economic development for these two unique industries.
The official welcoming ceremony will begin with a variety of exciting activities such as:
A special art program will be performed, bringing the audience impressive experiences of music, dance and the cultural heritage of the nation. In particular, in the art program, the Institute of Economics, Culture and Arts in collaboration with Bat Trang Ceramics and Van Phuc Silk Weaving Village will recreate the procession of the founders of the craft and tell the story of the heritage journey of Bat Trang Ceramics and Van Phuc Silk Weaving.
Welcoming ceremony: The event announcement ceremony with the participation of local leaders, representatives of international organizations and people who love Vietnamese culture. The event will be attended by the World Craft Council and many famous artisans from members of the Global Creative Craft Cities Network.
Product exhibition: In particular, right after the reception ceremony, there will be a space to display Bat Trang ceramic and Van Phuc silk products introduced by famous artisans and businesses, giving visitors the opportunity to admire and learn about the production and crafting process. Visitors will experience the process of making Bat Trang ceramics and Van Phuc silk weaving.
Exchange with artisans: Artisans will be present to share about the wonders of their profession and interesting stories surrounding their products. This is a good opportunity for young people who love art to learn and learn more about the profession. Coming to the event, visitors will have the opportunity to directly exchange and listen to talented artisans, masters of ceramics and silk weaving at home and abroad share.
This is one of the events that Hanoi City has paid special attention to implementing since the first days of the spring of At Ty 2025. In particular, the Ceremony to receive Bat Trang Ceramics and Van Phuc Silk Weaving Craft Village and a series of exhibition events, ceramics and silk weaving exchanges between domestic and foreign artisans will take place in 3 days from February 14-16, 2025 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel. Craft villages are one of the five pillars of the capital's cultural industry development. More than 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts are a great advantage for Hanoi to promote the development of craft villages associated with tourism, in order to increase product value and develop sustainable economy for craft villages. The master plan for developing craft villages in Hanoi for the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2050, is being finalized to be submitted to the Hanoi People's Committee for approval and implementation. It is considered a lever, creating conditions for craft villages to develop sustainably and reach out.
