Chara x Card Game Fest, successfully organized by Wedge Holdings Co., ltd, not only provided a grand playground for Japanese anime fans but also showcased the company’s strategic approach to expanding Japan’s content market in Vietnam.

On March 8-9, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, Japan-based Wedge Holdings, in collaboration with its distribution partner Showa Brain Navi Vietnam (SBNV), participated in the 10th Vietnam-Japan Festival by hosting the "Chara x Card Game Fest." This large-scale event catered to Japanese pop culture enthusiasts in Vietnam and served as part of Wedge Holdings’ broader strategy to expand Japan’s content market in the country. Enthusiastic attendees explored and purchased officially licensed character collectibles, offering a unique experience for the Japanese content-loving community.

A Journey Through Japanese Anime, Manga, and Card Games

This year’s event adopted a special theme, inspired by a train journey where participants could immerse themselves in the world of anime, manga, and card games. The journey featured various themed stops, including "Virtual Stop," "Collection Stop," and "Battle Stop," each attracting thousands of visitors.

Expanding the Japanese Content Ecosystem in Vietnam

At the "Virtual Stop," visitors stepped into the worlds of popular franchises such as Haikyu!!, Bleach, and Dragon on Hat. This area was designed to provide an interactive experience with anime characters, offering fans a chance to capture memorable moments.

The "Collection Stop" featured officially licensed products developed exclusively for the Vietnamese market by Wedge Holdings. A range of high-quality items, including stationery, accessories, and collectible goods such as badges, keychains, stickers, and tote bags, were available. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to delivering premium Japanese content to Vietnamese consumers.

One of the event’s highlights was the "Battle Stop," where Vietnam’s largest trading card game (TCG) tournaments took place. Featuring globally renowned card games such as Pokemon TCG, One Piece Card Game, Conan TCG, and Yugioh TCG, the event attracted a massive turnout from TCG communities. Additionally, two major tournaments, the Haikyu!! Volleyball Chess and Conan TCG Challenge, drew large numbers of participants, culminating in grand finals held on the main stage before an audience of thousands.

Long-Term Development Strategy in Vietnam

Since the launch of the Vietnamese edition of Haikyu!! Volleyball Chess in 2018, Wedge Holdings and SBNV have continuously expanded their product lineup and hosted events to foster Vietnam’s growing TCG fanbase. The company not only introduces the latest products but also invests in community-building activities to enhance Japan’s content market in Vietnam.

Looking ahead, Wedge Holdings plans to further develop licensed character products from renowned anime and manga franchises. The company is also working closely with artist Akira Ito to create exclusive Dragon on Hat characters tailored for the Vietnamese market. With a long-term vision, Wedge Holdings aims not only to distribute products but also to establish a comprehensive content ecosystem, positioning Vietnam as a key market in the Japanese content business sector.
