From pharmaceuticals and food processing to packaging, printing, and green transformation, the company has supported local manufacturers in upgrading capabilities, achieving international standards, and embracing sustainable innovation. In this interview with Vietnam Business Forum, Mr. Felix Niesmann, General Director of Rieckermann Vietnam, shares insights into the company’s contributions, its 360-degree business model, and its vision for digitalization, automation, and sustainable industrial development in Vietnam.

What role has Rieckermann Vietnam played in the transfer of industrial machinery and technology between Germany and Vietnam in recent years?
Founded in 1892 in Hamburg, Germany, Rieckermann began as a trading company for machinery and industrial equipment with our first business activities in Vietnam in the 1950s. We reentered Vietnam in the late 1980s and established our first office in Hanoi in 1992. Since then, we have become an integrated industrial solution provider, supplying entire production lines and complete turnkey plants to a broad variety of industrial manufacturing companies.
We are proud to have supported the growth of various major industries, notably pharmaceuticals, food processing, packaging materials production and printing, as well as the chemical and energy sectors, playing a pivotal role in the transfer of industrial machinery and technology between Germany and Vietnam. Our contributions include supplying entire production lines and turnkey plants to Vietnamese companies, enhancing their manufacturing capabilities and compliance with international standards. Some notable projects by our engineering division that demonstrate our impact in the pharmaceutical industry include the state-of-the-art vaccine manufacturing plant for VNVC Manufacturing. We are also a strategic partner for the major expansion of Dan On Foods' production facilities in Vietnam, delivering advanced food processing and packaging technologies to support their commitment to growth and innovation in the food industry.

Rieckermann assesses the demand for digitalization and automation in Vietnam’s industrial production through comprehensive analysis of customer goals and essential needs, such as systems integration, quality control, energy efficiency, and reliability in terms of downtime reduction. Given the increasingly growing number of applications and technologies available, our recommendations are tailored to each customer based on their specific requirements, budget considerations, and timeline.

We applaud the proactive measures that have been implemented by the Vietnamese government to foster mutually beneficial trade relations with Germany and the German Business Association (GBA) in promoting such initiatives. Moreover, we believe that increased legal transparency and political stability will drive a more attractive investment climate.
