October 10, the 21st Vietnam Craft Village Fair officially opened at the Agricultural Exhibition Fair Area - Hanoi, gathering hundreds of craft villages, craft streets and typical artisans from all over the country.

The Fair is an annual event of the Agriculture and Environment Sector to promote value chain connections, honor traditional craft villages and craft streets across the country; encourage the creativity of artisans and craftsmen to improve the quality and develop the quintessence of traditional Vietnamese crafts. The Fair is held from October 10 to 14.
With a scale of 150 booths, more than 1,000m2 displaying typical OCOP products, the Fair is a gathering place for craft villages, craft streets, associations, cooperatives, enterprises, production facilities, and services serving rural agriculture. The fair displays a wide variety of unique and sophisticated handicraft products; many products have won high prizes in Hanoi's craft village product competitions and products such as agriculture, forestry, fishery, food and beverages, agricultural materials, souvenirs, gifts; especially the presence of many typical OCOP products, agricultural products from localities across the country.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hoang Van Du, Deputy Director of the Center for Trade and Agriculture Promotion, shared that with the desire to promote the honor of the value of craft villages across the country, the fair is a place to gather craft villages, craft streets, and display specialty products from many localities. The organizers hope that through the activities at the fair, it will bring many good meanings, contributing to enhancing the image of handicraft products, OCOP products in the domestic and foreign markets. However, to adapt to new market requirements, craft villages need to promote the application of technology, innovate designs and focus on green - clean - sustainable standards. This year's fair is therefore not only a place to introduce products, but also a forum to connect production with consumption, promote trade and expand export markets. In particular, the handicraft demonstration area with 8 traditional bamboo booths will be a highlight to attract visitors. Here, artisans from many rural areas will directly demonstrate the production stages, helping visitors witness the sophistication of Vietnamese craftsmen's hands.

According to statistics from the Vietnam Craft Villages Association, the country currently has about 5,400 craft villages, the number of craft villages in the North accounts for nearly 40%, most concentrated in the Red River Delta with about 1,500 villages, of which about 300 villages have been recognized as traditional craft villages. With a history of hundreds of years, this is the birthplace and preservation of traditional crafts with handicraft products converging the quintessence of national culture, along with the values of natural landscapes, architecture, heritage... bringing great potential to develop the economy and rural tourism in Vietnam.

The sustainable development of rural industries will create conditions for shifting the structure of agricultural production and rural labor structure towards industrialization and modernization.
The fair will feature activities such as product display and introduction; specialized seminars; organizing exhibition spaces, introducing OCOP products; organizing and awarding prizes for beverage mixing competitions; week of promoting and introducing OCOP products and Lang Son province's agricultural specialties; promoting and introducing local culture, cuisine, tourism; demonstrating the skills of typical Vietnamese craft villages; organizing groups of artisans and craftsmen to visit, exchange, learn...
Not only is it a place to honor the talented hands of artisans, this year's Vietnam Craft Village Fair also ignites the flame of love, when the Organizing Committee launched a program to support people in flood-affected areas. Responding to the call of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, businesses, artisans and visitors joined hands to share and send their love to those facing difficulties due to natural disasters.
