“With a foundation of 30 years of cooperation, increasing political trust, and the active engagement of the business communities of both countries, Vietnam and the United States will continue to write an even brighter chapter in a balanced, fair, and sustainable Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity for the two nations and the world.”
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son at the 8th Vietnam-U.S. Business Summit under the theme “A New Era of Development for Mutually Beneficial Commercial Relations.” The summit, organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi (AmCham) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, took place recently in Hanoi and brought together more than 100 senior leaders, officials, and top business representatives from both countries.

Promoting cooperation in high tech and clean energy
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam consistently prioritizes fair and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation with the U.S. In 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, bilateral ties continue to strengthen after being elevated to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023. Trade turnover reached US$126.4 billion in the first nine months of 2025, up 27.3% year on year. The U.S. is the first export market for Vietnam to surpass US$100 billion and remains one of Vietnam’s largest trade partners. In terms of investment, most major U.S. corporations are present and investing effectively in Vietnam. With projected GDP growth above 8% in 2025, Vietnam is committed to building a stable and transparent business environment focused on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son proposed five key directions for cooperation between businesses of the two countries. First, collaboration in semiconductors and high technology, including the development of the semiconductor ecosystem, research and development centers, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI) hubs in Vietnam.

Second, cooperation in clean energy and green growth, including offshore wind power, solar energy, hydrogen, energy storage, and smart grids, supporting Vietnam in achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Third, cooperation on strategic supply chains, developing flexible, diversified, and sustainable supply chains, promoting regional connectivity, and smart logistics to reduce transportation costs. Specifically, expanding collaboration between Vietnamese businesses and global retail chains such as Walmart and Costco to integrate Vietnamese products into global value chains.
Fourth, cooperation in innovation and digital transformation, promoting digital trade, digital services, cross-border electronic payments, and collaboration in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. Vietnamese businesses will also work with U.S. pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop a digital health ecosystem and community healthcare solutions.
Fifth, cooperation in education, training, and technology transfer, focusing on training technology engineers, semiconductor experts, and global management professionals, while connecting universities and research institutes from both countries.
Strengthening trust, toward sustainable future
According to Dr. Ho Sy Hung, VCCI President, the confidence of U.S. investors in Vietnam’s business environment has been steadily reinforced. Bilateral trade has grown impressively, making the U.S. one of Vietnam’s leading trade partners. U.S. investors have developed extensive connections with Vietnamese companies across supply chains. Many major U.S. corporations with advanced technologies, including Apple, Intel, Amkor, Boeing, and AES, have expanded their investments, established deep value chains, and created hundreds of thousands of high-quality jobs in Vietnam.
“The Vietnamese government identifies innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation as development pillars and key drivers to enhance national productivity and competitiveness. This process is further strengthened through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, where cooperation between Vietnamese and U.S. businesses is particularly significant. This is the moment for our two economies to look forward together, toward a future of technology, innovation, clean energy, and sustainable development,” said VCCI President Ho Sy Hung.
VCCI President Ho Sy Hung affirmed that VCCI is committed to working with AmCham and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to continue serving as a trusted bridge between the governments and business communities of both countries. VCCI will proactively promote new cooperation initiatives, help U.S. companies connect more deeply with Vietnamese partners, and jointly build a transparent, stable, and socially responsible investment and business ecosystem.
According to U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific Michael DeSombre, Vietnam has significant potential to attract foreign direct investment, and U.S. companies are ready to maintain a leading role as key investors and partners of Vietnamese businesses. He also emphasized Vietnam’s strategic role in ensuring global economic security and sustainable supply chains through diversification and cooperation.
U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper praised the private sector’s contributions to bilateral relations, noting that Vietnamese and U.S. businesses have been central to the remarkable progress over the past three decades. He reaffirmed the U.S.’s continued commitment to supporting Vietnam’s development goals, including cooperation in innovation, clean energy, digital transformation, and high-quality human resource development.
According to AmCham Chairman Michael Nguyen, over more than three decades, AmCham has consistently supported Vietnam in its economic transformation and remains committed to assisting the country in its next phase of development. Advancing solutions to the key issues discussed at the summit will help improve the business environment, strengthen the private sector, promote socio-economic development, and bring prosperity to Vietnam.
