Vietnam Expo 2006 Expected to Bring Considerable Movement in Trading Activities

International Trade Fair and Exhibition 2006 (Vietnam Expo 2006) under the theme "Vietnam- Integration and Development" hosted by the Ministry of Trade will take place from April 5th - 9th, 2006 in the capital city of Hanoi. Organized by Vietnam National Trade Fair & Advertising Co. with the support of Ministries and Departments, as well as Hanoi People's Committee and significant number of Vietnamese & International Trade Promotion organizations, this event is considered an important contribution to the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.

It is deemed to have successfully promoted a new open market by providing an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign exhibitors to exchange experience, information, and effectively introduce and promote their products.

 

Started in 1990, Vietnam International Trade Fair after 16 years has become the biggest fair in Vietnam as regards to both scale, information and promotion aspects, especially Vietnam Expo 2005. With the theme of "Vietnam - Potential, Opportunity and Development", Vietnam Expo 2005 was a good chance for Vietnamese enterprises to push up trade, exchange and cooperation with foreign partners. There were 658 exhibitors in this fair, of which 28 per cent are overseas participants. Total trade visitors were 36,000 and public ones were 54,000 from over 22 countries and regions. Statistics note that for two years from 2000 to 2004, total on site transaction value in the fair was approximately over US$1.2 mil. Due to the success of trading promotion, this figure of Expo 2005 was increased to value of US$1.285 million.

 

After Vietnam Expo 2005, General assessments and remarks of Exhibitors showed that 82 per cent of the exhibitors were pleased with services of the Organizer, 75 per cent of the exhibitors concluded participation with fruitful results at the Fair and 68 per cent of the exhibitors are interested in participating.

 

With the participation of nearly 500 enterprises with 700 pavilions which includes 450 Vietnam pavilions and over 250 foreign pavilions of 15 foreign countries and territories including China, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Czech, Cuba, Taiwan, Myanmar, the US, etc, it is estimated that the scale of the Vietnam Expo 2006 will be 20 per cent larger than the previous Fair. At Vietnam Expo 2006, trade visitors will have opportunities to find out Vietnam's potential traditional products as well as latest techniques and products of the world. 

 

In the fair, there will be 6 foreign national pavilions including China, Czech, Cuba, Korea, Malaysia and Myanmar. The rest were domestic pavilions of key industries such as oil and gas, transport, construction, electronics, post and telecoms, leather and shoe, etc.

 

Basic commodities are agricultural products and food processing, electrical products- electronics-communication technology, textile, garment, fashion items, leather and shoes, furnishings-handicrafts, wooden interior products, stationary, machinery and equipment, construction materials.

 

In the opening ceremony of Vietnam Expo 2006, it will be a great pleasure to have honorable VIPs of Vietnamese Government and foreign guests attending the event. There will be ministers, vice ministers, representatives of Hanoi's People Committee, foreign Ambassadors, and Economic Counsellors, and representatives of international trade promotion organizations.

 

During exhibition period, seminars on "Quality Management of Agricultural products and Food processing" will be held for domestic and foreign businesses to discuss about strength and future prospect of Vietnam's agricultural export. Notably, there are currently more than 120 products registered for Gold Medal, of which 68 previously gained the award. In addition, 19 Vietnamese enterprises and 12 foreign National Pavilions have been awarded Gold Medal for nice stand design.

The Organizing Board of Vietnam Expo 2006 will coordinate with the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnamese Department of Measuring Standard and Quality to examine and award Gold Medal for products of high quality, competitive capacity in domestic and oversea markets, for nice design Pavilions. Gold Medals also will be awarded "Nice Design Stands" for good decoration of exhibit sections at the fair.

This event is expected to bring considerable movement in trading activities as well as significant long-term foreign investments for Vietnam which is expected to result in even higher economic growth, particularly GDP and employment level.
