After 10 years of establishment (2016 - 2026), the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dong Gia Lai Branch (Agribank Dong Gia Lai), has achieved steady growth. Beyond its leading role in agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, the branch has become an important source of capital for many sectors, helping improve competitiveness and supporting local socio-economic development.

Our reporter spoke with Tran Quang Tuan, Director of Agribank Dong Gia Lai, about the branch’s 10-year journey and its direction in the new phase.
Could you share some of Agribank Dong Gia Lai’s key achievements after 10 years and its contributions to the local economy and society?
Agribank Dong Gia Lai was established and began operations in November 2016, after separating from Agribank Gia Lai Provincial Branch. The branch currently operates a network that includes its headquarters, eight Level II branches, and six affiliated transaction offices.
After nearly 10 years of operation, the branch has grown significantly in scale. Mobilized capital has increased by more than 3.1 times to VND11,617 billion, while outstanding credit has increased 2.3 times to VND15,699 billion, with average annual growth rates of 12.9% and 9.5%, respectively. By the end of 2025, the branch had become the market leader in the western Gia Lai area, holding 13.6% of mobilized capital and 12.8% of outstanding loans.
Agribank Dong Gia Lai now serves nearly 156,000 customers, mainly in agriculture, rural areas, household businesses, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Its credit has supported key sectors such as agriculture, trade and services, and agro-forestry processing, helping improve production value chains and local competitiveness.
Alongside its business activities, the branch has maintained a strong focus on social responsibility. From 2016 to 2025, it contributed nearly VND38 billion to social welfare programs, including housing support, education, healthcare, disaster relief, and cultural and social activities in the area. For example, during floods in central Vietnam in late 2025, the branch provided more than VND330 million for recovery support, reinforcing Agribank’s image as a responsible and community-focused institution.
After just 10 years, Agribank Dong Gia Lai has risen to lead market share in the area. In your view, what solutions have been decisive in achieving this result?
These achievements are not the result of favorable conditions, but of a steady process of innovation and adaptation. In its early years, Agribank Dong Gia Lai faced many challenges, especially limited access to corporate and large enterprise clients.
As operations gradually stabilized, the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, negatively affecting production, business activities, and the absorption of credit capital. In that context, we made major changes in both mindset and approach.
The core solution has been a shift toward a customer-centric mindset, with execution efficiency and customer satisfaction as key measures. Guided by the principle “Where there are customers, there is Agribank” and “Go where customers need us and deliver what they expect,” we moved from a passive approach to actively reaching customers, from enterprises to individual households.
More importantly, we determined that Agribank culture must become a competitive advantage. That culture is defined by dedication, closeness, responsibility, and long-term partnership, serving customers from the heart. Agribank Dong Gia Lai attracts and retains customers not only through interest rates but also through trust and service quality. Many customers, after considering different options, have chosen to stay with the branch because of the confidence and reliability it provides.
The branch has also focused on strengthening competitiveness by standardizing processes, streamlining procedures, and improving professionalism and service quality, while building a unified working environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and proactiveness among staff.
Another key achievement has been bringing banking products and services directly to grassroots communities through lending groups, which act as extensions of the branch. With nearly 900 lending groups and mobile transaction points, we have brought capital to villages and hamlets, expanding credit access and strengthening public trust in the banking system.
In addition, the branch has actively implemented new payment models such as QRCode, VietQR, and POS at commercial centers, traditional markets, shopping streets, and dining areas. These efforts have received strong support from authorities and residents, contributing to the growing use of cashless payment in the community.
The combination of new thinking, corporate culture, and stronger competitiveness has driven the progress that has positioned Agribank Dong Gia Lai as a market leader today.

Agribank Dong Gia Lai also places strong emphasis on local social welfare programs
As Gia Lai province promotes investment attraction, what measures have you implemented to support businesses and investors?
From the outset of the new phase, we identified that development must go hand in hand with decisive action, working alongside the banking sector and local authorities to achieve double-digit growth targets. On that basis, we have actively restructured our credit portfolio, prioritizing sectors with strong potential, competitive advantages, and high value added such as high-tech agriculture, agro-forestry processing, and renewable energy.
Beyond providing capital, Agribank Dong Gia Lai offers comprehensive financial solutions including international payments, guarantees, cash flow management, card services, and digital banking, helping businesses improve governance and operational efficiency. At the same time, we have strengthened bank-enterprise connections and worked closely with local authorities to promptly identify and address challenges, creating favorable conditions for investors to implement projects.
The branch continues to improve its operational platform and diversify products and services to better meet rising customer demand. Our goal is not only to provide capital but also to become a trusted financial partner that supports businesses in improving performance and competitiveness.
What solutions are you implementing to advance modernization, digital transformation, and green credit to meet increasing customer demand?
Digital transformation and sustainable development are no longer trends but essential requirements for the banking sector. Recognizing this, we have implemented coordinated solutions to modernize operations, focusing on digital banking development and promoting cashless payments.
The effective deployment of Agribank Plus and E-Banking applications has enabled customers to carry out most transactions online in a convenient and timely manner. By the end of the first quarter of 2026, the branch had about 86,000 customers using electronic banking services, accounting for nearly 70% of customers with payment accounts, reflecting a clear shift toward digital transactions among both individuals and businesses.
At the same time, we have expanded modern payment methods such as POS, QR, cards, and electronic channels, helping reduce transaction costs while improving transparency and efficiency in financial flows across the economy.
In the coming period, Agribank Dong Gia Lai will continue to prioritize green credit, directing capital toward clean agriculture, renewable energy, and environmentally friendly production models. This is both a business direction and a commitment to supporting the locality’s sustainable development goals.
What message would you like to share about your next stage of development?
Entering a new phase, Agribank Dong Gia Lai will continue to innovate and strengthen execution capacity to meet the growing development needs of both the locality and its customers.
We are committed to providing comprehensive financial solutions, improving service quality, and simplifying procedures to help customers access capital quickly, transparently, and efficiently. At the same time, we will stay aligned with the province’s development direction, prioritizing resources for key sectors and contributing to sustainable socio-economic growth.
For businesses and investors, Agribank Dong Gia Lai aims to be a trusted financial anchor, supporting them over the long term throughout project implementation and business operations.
Looking back over the past 10 years, what we value most is the trust of our customers, the support of local authorities, and the dedication of our staff. This foundation will allow us to move forward with confidence and contribute further to the sustainable development of Gia Lai province in the new phase.
Thank you very much!
