Trade Minister Urges EC to Rethink Anti-dumping Tax on Shoes
Vietnam’s Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen on April 3, 2006 showed his disappointment to European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson on the EC decision to impose temporary anti-dumping taxes on Vietnamese shoes with leather uppers exported to the EU.
The minister revealed the news on April 4 after his meeting with the trade commissioner in Brussels. At the meeting, Mr. Tuyen showed wishes the EC will reconsider its decision subject to the trade liberalization which EC is promoting. He stressed that the EC taxes will create many bad impacts on Vietnam’s shoe makers.
