The Vietnamese Ministry of Trade (MoT) has recently issued a circular prohibiting the import of some used-goods and medical equipment since earlier this month.

Accordingly, used-goods included in the 30 chapters of the list of imported goods items from chapter 39 to 69 will be banned for import.

They consist of plastic rugs, kitchen tools, freezers, televisions, motorbikes, bicycles, cloth, interior furniture, loudspeakers, bathtubs, tape-recorders, recorders and disk players, and others.

Spare parts or components relating to the above goods will also be prohibited from import.

Meanwhile, banned imports of second-hand medical equipment in chapter 90 of the list include surgical, dental, ultrasonic, ultraviolet and infrared rays equipment and syringes.

In separate news, the Ministry of Industry announced that a new list of forbidden import and export items came into effect from May 1 this year.

The banned imports will be used-bicycles and motorbikes with two or three wheels while toxic chemicals will not be allowed to be exported, indicated the ministry.
