Hyundai Names Auto Distributor for Vietnam
Hyundai Motor Asia has named Hyundai Motor Vietnam Co. (HMV) to be the sole distributor of Hyundai passenger cars in Vietnam.
Accordingly, HMV is entitled to import passenger cars manufactured by Hyundai Motor Corp. and sell them on the Vietnamese market.
Hyundai will only supply products to HMV but the latter must try its best to increase market share by its effective marketing plans.
Mr. Ha Minh Tuan, General Director of HMV, said Hyundai automobiles will be available on the Vietnamese market in the third quarter of this year.
In the initial phase, HMV will prioritize the import of passenger automobiles of 7-16 seats, sport utility vehicles (SUV) and diesel engine autos, he said.
Later, the company will survey market demand before deciding whether to import sedans with engine sizes of 1.0.-3.0L.
Currently, Toyota, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi and other leading automakers have set up factories in Vietnam while some other firms like Nissan also have sales network in the country.
