PM Issues Regulation on Coordinating Organisation of APEC 2006 Events

On June 2, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai issued a Statute on coordinating the organisation of APEC 2006 events enclosed with the Decision 809/QD-TTg. This statute provides coordinating mechanism in organising works between national sub-committees for APEC 2006, APEC 2006 Secretariat, ministries, branches and local governments in the process of organising APEC 2006 events in Vietnam.

 

Accordingly, 10 clear regulations on mechanism of coordinating and organising APEC 2006 events in material, logistics, security, reception, communication and sponsorship mobilisation were announced. The National Committee for APEC 2006 presides over the Summit Week, the Secretariat is responsible for Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and meetings related to SOM and APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM), ministries and competent bodies are answerable to specific minister meetings, meetings of working groups and other activities approved by the National Committee for APEC 2006, VCCI is liable for organising the CEO Summit and APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

 

In security, the Security Sub-committee cooperates with event-responsible bodies and local governments of event meetings to set up security, order and traffic plans for all APEC events in Vietnam. In the meantime, the Sub-committee is also responsible for facilitating the exit and entry procedures for APEC delegates, the production of delegate cards, meeting cards and others. The Propaganda and Culture Sub-committee cooperates with related sub-committees and local governments of event meetings to set up and carry out propaganda plans.
