Garment Exports to Russia Sharply Rise

Vietnam’s textile and garment shipments to Russia sharply increased in the first months of this year, state media report.
 
During the period, overcoats exported to the foreign market saw an on-year increase of over 319 per cent to reach $2 million, shirts raking in $5.2 million, jackets $3.36 million, sportswear $591,000 and wind-breakers $270,000.
 
Exports of textile and garments to Russia are expected to further increase in the coming time as the demand for these products in the foreign market is rising.
 
This year, Vietnam expects to earn $5.5 billion from garment and textile exports, mainly to the EU and the US in 2006, up nearly 14.6 per cent against 2005.
