Many APEC events in September

In September, there will be many major events within the 2006 APEC Vietnam Year.

From September 4-8, the 13^th Financial Ministerial Meeting (FMM-13) took place in Hanoi with the participation of around 30 financial ministers and bank governors of 21 APEC member economies, as well as representatives from international financial organisations and private enterprises. The meeting focused on discussing issues relating to budget revenues and dialogues between ministers with representatives of the private sector (ie, the APEC Business Advisory Council - ABAC) on policies for financial sector’s reform. On the sideline of the FMM-13, there were bilateral talks of ministers of APEC member economies.

From September 4-17, 2006, in Da Nang city and Hoi An town, the third Senior Official Meeting (SOM III) is taking place. This is the third biggest meeting of the 2006 APEC Vietnam year. Within the meeting framework, there are meetings of working groups on corruption and transparency, governmental expenditures, e-commerce, health care, entrepreneurs’ travel and intellectual property.

Other events taking place in September include:

- The 11^th APEC Women Leader Network (WLN) meeting in Hanoi from September 19-22,

- A conference on support for women exporters in Hanoi on September 22 and 23,

- The fourth Business Incubator Forum and APEC SMEs Business Forum in Hanoi on September 21 and 22/9,

- The third APEC Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs Forum in Ho Chi Minh City from September 20-24,

- A Seminar on Supporting Measures for the Development of micro-enterprises (MEs) and Policy Advice on APEC Cooperation Programs to Support MEs in Hanoi on September 25, and
