APEC CEO Summit 2006: More Information for Businesses

To provide businesses adequate information on APEC CEO Summit 2006 and Vietnam Business Forum, in August, VCCI has organized round tables with businesses in all parts of Vietnam: North, Central and South. All questions of the businesses on the two events have been duly clarified. At the same time, the businesses have also recommended the Organizing Committee to make create more business and investment opportunities for Asia-Pacific economies.
 
VCCI Deputy Secretary General Nguyen Van Thao, Managing Director of APEC CEO Summit 2006 said that the event is an wonderful opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to approach multi-national corporations and groups. The President of Vietnam has sent letters inviting leaders of some member economies to address the APEC CEO Summit 2006. Five of them have accepted the invitation. The number may total in 10. The APEC CEO Summit 2006 will be participated by 800-1,000 delegates.
 
The Organizing Committee has coordinated with American Chamber of Commerce, Vietnam-US Trade Council, Japanese Trade and Economic Federation, Chinese International Trade Promotion Commission, etc. to introduce potential and interested companies to invest and do business with Vietnam.
 
Interested businesses from Asia-Pacific economies can send to the Organizing Committee the application forms distributed by VCCI and the invitation will be sent back accordingly. The participation fee will be US$1,000 for a foreign businessperson and US$750 for a local businessperson, excluding travel, hotel and personal expenses. Vietnam Business Forum will take place on 16 November and the two following days will be discussion sessions of APEC CEO Summit 2006. Five languages will be used in the discussions with English as official language. The final day of the event (19 November) will be for APEC CEOs to attend business meetings, cultural exchanges and visits to industrial zones in Vietnam.
 
It is reported that the Organizing Committee has received financial support and organizing experiences from foreign and local businesses such as GM, Microsoft, Fidex, Citi group, HSBC, AIG, Time Warner, Asia Inc. Qualcom, AT&T, Saigon Invest Group, Vietnam Airlines, Petro Vietnam, etc. Related activities of the Summit and Forum have been made public in mass media and important communication channels of the world.
