“Building friendly schools, active students” movement has been launched by Binh Thuan Education & Training Department since the beginning of school year 2010 – 2011. Accordingly, the province has created an effective educational environment, suitable for local conditions; especially students have promoted their activeness, creativeness in studying and social activities.
The main purpose and most important meaning of building friendly schools is to create a safe, equal educational environment which inspires students to study, helping to ensure students’ right of education and learning up the levels, to increase educational quality based on concentrating all attempts of students and schools, with concerns showing friendly attitude and democracy. At friendly schools, students will feel relaxation in their studying through both academic knowledge and experiences by themselves in extra curriculum activities, folk games and team activities.
Given such meaning, observing guideline of Ministry of Education and Training and provincial People’s Committee, Binh Thuan Education and Training Department has implemented the campaign “Study and follow the steps of Ho Chi Minh Uncle” combined with the campaign “Each teacher being an example of morality, self-study and creativeness”, emulation “Building friendly schools and active students”, aiming at the goal of bettering quality and educational efficiency comprehensively, making up general strength to mobilize all resources from internal and external schools’ forces to actively participate in cooperation for students’ comprehensive education. Responding to the campaign, most staffs and teachers have regularly self-studied, voluntarily observed, determined responsibility in teaching and learning to upgrade their professionalism; as well as ready to take and fulfill the tasks assigned, have always struggled and thought of how to increase working performance.
With each subjects, each teacher reforms teaching method, observing standard timetable, increases teaching quality and ensure to inspire students and ease their stress. Contents of educating living skills have been made into details by some schools in teaching and learning activities and brought about practical efficiency. Schools hold many extra curriculum activities and teach basic living skills such as: communication skills, behavior and manner code, self-study method, some traditional songs, team dances, folk games etc. Many schools have built behavior and manner code among the members and guided students to behave politely in family and community. The skills are: working in teams in studying and other activities, saying hello, saying thank, apologizing, observe transport law etc.
Joining the campaign “three enough”, teachers and students in the whole department continue to take up a collection, getting nearly VND173 million, 9,770 notebooks and other school supplies in 2010. In addition, Education and Training Department has coordinated with Book – Equipment Joint Stock Company to offer 3,551 textbooks valued nearly VND 30 million to 248 students whose parents are wounded soldiers and martyrs, collect old textbooks and sell at preferential price (16,000 ones) to those in need, assist students in disadvantageous situations so that they can settle down, have textbooks to study and be able to study diligently. Study Encouragement Societies, provincial Bao Viet Company, provincial and external enterprises have held many activities to support, help poor students studying well, grant scholarships, material equipments etc to condition them to go to school.
With practical and obvious efficiency, furthering the emulation campaign “building friendly schools, active students” continues to be regarded by Binh Thuan Education and Training Department as one of important measures, creating premise to improve comprehensive education quality in schools.
