ASEAN has come a long way since it was born in 1967. To mark its 40th anniversary, the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) is launching the inaugural ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) to recognise the most outstanding and successful ASEAN companies contributing to ASEAN’s economic growth and prosperity.
The awards will be presented to 4 “Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise” winners at the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (ASEAN-BIS) on November 18, 2007. The awards will be conferred for 4 categories: Growth; Employment; Innovation; and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Organisers also aim for the awards to be a showcase for promising ASEAN SMEs with the potential to be global players. Up to 12 finalists will be shortlisted and the winners will be announced at the closing ceremony Gala Dinner of the ASEAN-BIS on 18 November 2007. They will receive their awards from ASEAN leaders at the ceremony.
ASEAN-BAC Singapore member Ms Low Sin Leng chairs the ABA Committee, which will spearhead the implementation of the awards. Global professional services firm Ernst & Young is the Strategic Partner and has helped to conceptualise the framework of the inaugural awards.
