India Boosting Trade with Vietnam
A business delegation from India’s Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is set to visit Vietnam this week, aiming at establishing sustainable business relations with local industry and trade.
As scheduled, the 21-member delegation, including President P R Agarwala and chairman of the Global trade Standing Committee, Ashok Aikat will tour Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The trip is aimed to form a two-way partnership between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the BCC to foster and channel business interests of West Bengal and Vietnam, Agarwala said.
He added that for a decade the BCC was undertaking initiatives through discussions with Vietnam’s ambassadors in India to help expand trade between Vietnam and West Bengal.
The two-way trade has increased from US$72 million in 1995 to US$375 million in 2002 and more than US$1 billion in 2006, and the ASEAN country always suffers from trade deficit.
The two countries want to expand the bilateral trade to US$1.5-2 billion in the next two or three years. (Thanh Nien Daily)
