Vietnam to Build Applied Atomic Center in Dalat

Vietnam plans to spend VND424 billion (US$26.5 million) on building an applied atomic center in Dalat City of central highlands Lam Dong province, local media reported.
 
The center is functioned to apply advanced nuclear technical of Vietnam and of countries in the region in fields of industry, agriculture and radioactive biology technology.
 
The 117-ha center will include a laboratory, a Gamma nursery garden, a Gamma house, and equipment for gene and variety technology so as to create vegetables, fruit, flower, ornamental tree and precious medicine varieties from radioactive mutation.
 
The Institute of Atomic Energy of Vietnam August 14 held a seminar in Hanoi focusing on consultancy for the center construction.
 
Vietnam plans to build its first nuclear power plant in the country’s central region with an estimated capacity of 2,000 MW in 2020. (Pioneer)
