Vietnam Expected to Disburse US$100Mln abroad This Year

Vietnamese companies are expected to disburse around US$100 million in its outbound investment this year, up 25 per cent against last year, according to the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
 
The country is also forecast to invest US$350 million into foreign markets in the year, a slight rise over US$347 million of 2006.
 
Local businesses have to date poured around US$1 billion abroad into over 200 projects, the MPI said.
 
The industrial production sector accounts for 39.6 per cent of the total project number, followed by agriculture industry with 21 per cent.
 
Laos, Algeria and Cambodia are Vietnam’s largest investment destinations.
 
Vietnam’s outbound investment is likely to hit between US$350 and US$400 million in 2008, while the disbursement capital will be about from US$150 to US$200 million, the department forecast. (Investment Aug 17 p1)
