Bulgaria, Germany Lauded as Bridges Linking Vietnam to EU
Vietnam always attaches special importance to bilateral cooperation with Bulgaria and Germany and hopes the two countries will be the bridges between it and the European market, Vietnamese Deputy PM Pham Gia Khiem told new ambassadors of the two nations October 19.
Khiem, who doubles as Foreign Affairs Minister, received Bulgarian Ambassador Georgi Konstantinov and German Ambassador Rolf Peter Gottfried Schulze on the occasion of starting their term in Vietnam.
The two ambassadors congratulated Vietnam’s non-permanent member on the United Nations Security Council for the term of 2008-2009 and believed the country will play a full role in settling international issues.
Both diplomats also affirmed their countries want to develop all-rounded cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation, essentially in fields of trade and investment.
Vietnamese leader for his part noted that Vietnam expects to raise the trade values with Bulgaria and Germany to meet the potentials.
In 2006, the two-way trade between Vietnam and Germany was $3 billion while the figure between Vietnam and Bulgaria was only $28 million. (Website of Government)
